Meetily is an impressive open-source, self-hosted meeting assistant that, like Omit, processes everything locally with no cloud. The honest difference is that Meetily is free and open source, while Omit is a supported commercial suite with the redaction engine and the rest of the apps built in.

When Meetily is the better choice: it is free, open source, and genuinely local, and if you are comfortable self-hosting and want to read every line of the code, Meetily is an excellent choice and we respect the project. Omit is not trying to beat free. It offers a supported product where meetings sit inside the same suite and redaction engine as your text, files, and audio, for people who would rather buy that than build and maintain it.
If you already run Meetily and like local transcription, Omit gives you the same local processing plus integrated redaction and support, without maintaining the self-hosted stack yourself.
Checked against Meetily's public repository and site on the date shown. Meetily is the closest thing to a direct competitor we have, and it is genuinely good, so this page concedes more than the others. If you read only one section, read the last one.

Over 25,000 GitHub stars and a stated 369,000 users. The community edition costs nothing and the source is open, so you can read exactly what it does rather than trusting a claim about it. For a technical team that wants to verify local processing rather than be told about it, that is a stronger guarantee than any assurance we can offer about a closed binary.

Omit Meet is one of four apps sharing a single detection and redaction engine, so the same policy that redacts a meeting transcript also redacts a PDF, a spreadsheet, a scanned image and anything pasted from the clipboard. If you only need meetings, that shared engine is overhead you are paying for.
How the suite fits togetherChoose Omit Meet if you want meetings covered by the same redaction policy as your documents, files and clipboard, on a supported Windows build you do not have to self-host or maintain. The reversible vault and desktop-wide Protect have no Meetily equivalent.
Choose Meetily if you are on macOS or Linux, if you want to read the source rather than trust a binary, or if meetings are the only thing you need. It is free, open, actively developed and it does the job. We would rather you picked the right tool than picked ours.
