When Redactable is the better choice

Redactable is a focused, well-run product. It is audited for SOC 2, strips metadata, and asks you to install nothing, which matters to teams that cannot put software on their machines. If uploading the document to a US cloud service is acceptable to you, it is a reasonable choice and it wins several rows here. Omit is for the case where the upload is itself the problem: a privileged file, a patient record, or a network that is not allowed out.

Switching to Omit

Nothing to migrate. The same PDFs and images you upload to Redactable can be dropped into Omit Redact, which writes a separate redacted copy and leaves the original untouched.

What we checked, and where it came from

Plans, file types and features were read from Redactable's own pricing page, and hosting, audit and retention from its own security page, on the date shown. Pricing moves, so treat plan details as of September 2026. The Starter price appears as more than one figure on the same page, so we do not quote it: confirm it at checkout.

Verified 25 September 2026.

Redactable is a cloud service on AWS, with data kept in the US

Its security page says Redactable runs entirely on AWS in private cloud infrastructure, and that your data is stored in the US and does not leave the US. Content is encrypted with AES-256 at rest and TLS 1.2 or higher in transit.

Redactable security

It holds a SOC 2 Type II report, which Omit does not

Redactable states its infrastructure, systems and controls are audited annually by A-LIGN. That is a real procurement advantage and we concede it plainly.

Plans are sized by documents per month

Starter covers up to 15 documents a month, Pro Plus up to 150, and Enterprise is unlimited with SSO, on a custom quote. Every plan includes AI redaction, OCR for scans, metadata removal, templates and audit trails. You can redact 3 documents free, with no card required. Supported files are PDF, TIFF, PNG and JPG, up to 500 MB each.

Omit's equivalent runs with the network off

Omit's detection runs in a bundled local engine, so the same automatic pass happens with no service behind it and nothing counted per document. You can verify it on a network-isolated machine and it behaves identically.

How Omit is built

Choose Omit when

Choose Omit Redact when the document must not be uploaded anywhere, when you redact Word, Excel or CSV files as well as PDFs, or when you would rather pay once than count documents each month.

Choose Redactable when

Choose Redactable if you need a SOC 2 report from your vendor, cannot install software, work on a Mac, or want metadata stripped and files pulled straight from Google Drive or SharePoint.

Questions people ask

Does Redactable keep my documents?

Redactable's security page says document content is processed in session and not retained beyond the scope of the redaction job, and that it does not use document content to train AI models. The document is still uploaded to its service on AWS to be processed. Omit never uploads it at all.

Is Omit SOC 2 certified like Redactable?

No. Redactable publishes a SOC 2 Type II audit by A-LIGN and Omit holds no such report. Omit's argument is different: with no server receiving your file, there is no hosted system for an audit to cover. If your procurement requires a SOC 2 report, Redactable meets that and we do not.

Can Omit redact Word and Excel files?

Yes. Omit Redact handles Word, Excel, CSV and JSON as well as PDF, email and images. Redactable lists PDF, TIFF, PNG and JPG as its supported file types.

Is either one metered?

Redactable's plans are sized by documents per month, with extra document credits available when you run over. Omit's detection runs locally on a one-time licence, so there is no document count to spend.
