CamoText is a well-regarded offline text anonymizer that, like Omit, keeps processing on your device and sells a one-time license. The difference is scope: Omit Redact is one app in a full offline desktop suite, with native true PDF redaction and a reversible encrypted vault built in.

CamoText is a genuine peer and a good product. It shares Omit's core values, offline processing and a one-time license, and its in-browser design means it runs on macOS where Omit today is Windows only. If you only need text and document anonymization on a Mac, CamoText may fit you better. Omit earns its place when you want one engine across text, audio, file conversion, and meetings, plus desktop-wide Protect.
If you already anonymize with CamoText, your workflow maps over directly: drop the same documents into Omit Redact, keep your one-time-license expectations, and gain the rest of the suite around it.
Checked against CamoText's own site and product pages on the date shown. CamoText is the closest analogue to Omit Redact in positioning, so most of the usual privacy argument does not separate us. What follows is where we actually differ.

Self-hosted for Windows and macOS, processing text entirely on device. The offline claim we make is one CamoText makes as well and is entitled to. It also runs on macOS, which Omit does not, so if you are on a Mac this comparison ends there.
CamoTextNLP-based semantic detection alongside pattern matching for credit cards, Social Security numbers, IBANs and similar, across DOCX, MD, PDF, XLSX, CSV and RTF, with batch processing and human review. That is a serious feature set, not a thin one.

How the suite fits togetherChoose Omit Redact if you need PDF redaction that genuinely removes the underlying content, or if you want one redaction policy covering audio, meetings and conversions as well as documents. It also redacts at the moment of pasting into a chatbot, rather than only when you remember to open a tool.
Choose CamoText if you are on macOS, or if focused document and text anonymisation is all you need. It is a well-regarded product doing that job properly, and a narrower tool that fits is better than a suite you do not use.
